Piggly Wiggly at Market Commons
This was the nation’s first completely restructured grocery store model designed to fit the way people intuitively shop. The 43,000 square foot store was upgraded to include wood flooring, architectural lighting with enhanced controls, open floor plan and advanced refrigeration systems.
GWA worked with both local and national design firms to establish new electrical design standards for lighting and power distribution. We also coordinated electrical design with refrigeration and technology systems vendors, resulting in systems projected to produce three million fewer pounds of carbon dioxide annually compared to a standard store.
The electrical system also included a quick connection point for a portable emergency generator in addition to a permanently installed generator, a feature needed in areas subject to hurricanes.
