Electrical design for the replacement of three medium-voltage transformers located on the seventh floor of the Clinical Sciences Building on the MUSC Charleston campus. These transformers have exceeded their rated life expectancy and have become a nuisance to the building occupants due to the vibration created under normal operating conditions. The electrical scope of work included coordination with MUSC staff to develop a plan for temporary electrical feeders, coordination with the transformer manufacturer for a custom retrofit solution, and power distribution design to reconnect the transformers utilizing flexible cable connections.
This project was estimated to take place over a 5 day power outage period but was completed two days ahead of schedule thanks to close coordination and cooperation with all team members.
