The University of South Carolina needed a new facility to house the coaching staffs and provide practice courts for the varsity basketball and volleyball teams.

GWA designed a multi-court electrical and lighting system to permit selectable lighting arrangements for a volleyball court and two basketball courts. The system included a control panel for each lighting task, assignable by simple numbered selections.

The design incorporated a monumental stair descending into a gymnasium-height lobby for  access to offices, conference rooms and meeting rooms. The lobby also included a commemorative wall emphasized by special lighting designed by GWA.
