Job Overview
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for working with clients, staff and team members to develop designs, drawings, system specifications and provide innovative electrical engineering solutions. You will be required to work independently, in addition to being part of a multidiscipline team. Responsible for overseeing and performing complex engineering assignments with emphasis on electrical engineering and related activities, including horizontal and vertical design and construction administration services, studies (feasibility, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, coordination), forensics, LEED, master planning and low- and medium-voltage systems.
Typical Work Activities
- Apply sound engineering knowledge, principles, and practices in broad areas of project assignments with varying supervision and assistance from other engineers and managers
- Oversee and prepare designs, work plans and specifications, from conceptual design through detailed design packages and to completion of construction
- Manage multiple tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget, with a high degree of internal and external client satisfaction
- Work with inhouse staff to ensure that the design documents being produced are correct per applicable codes, company standards and the clients' wishes
- Maintain and report on a project budget and schedule to meet project expectations
- Develop project estimates (budget and schedule)
- Utilize engineering discipline and experience to solve project issues
- Comply with company drawing and design guidelines; complete layouts, calculations, and system designs.
Experience and Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years electrical engineering experience
- Strong aptitude in engineering design, excellent analytical and technical skills
- Curious, creative, and enthusiastic about problem solving
- Willingness to learn new skills and to stay abreast of latest technology and design methods
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and able to coordinate and collaborate with staff, engineers, architects, manufacturers, owners, clients, code officials, utilities and contractors
- A strong working knowledge and the ability to interpret, apply and complete electrical designs in accordance with industry codes including, but not limited to, International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Experienced with electrical systems including low and medium voltage power, generator and UPS systems, grounding, lightning protections, lighting, fire alarm, and communications
- Knowledgeable of electrical design and construction administration for horizontal and vertical projects
- Experience with engineering software such as SKM Power Tools, Revit, AutoCAD, Comcheck, and Visual
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- BS or higher Electrical Engineering degree from ABET-accredited institution
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam, or working towards
- An active PE license is a plus, not required
Overview
Works with the engineering team on small to medium sized projects. Ensures projects and deliverables are in conformance with company’s established procedures and objectives with a focus on the firm’s goals, including client satisfaction, on-time delivery, quality control and technical soundness. Work includes planning, performing studies, analysis, design, cost stimating, and participation in client/team relationship building functions and activities.

Typical Work Activities
- Perform design work for projects
- Assist engineers, project managers, senior designers, field staff, administration and other team members as required
- Coordination with team members to collect design data, including site visits as required
- Perform basic electrical calculations such as circuit and load calculations, voltage drop, conduit and conductor sizing, and overcurrent protection sizing
- Conversion of design data into design documents
- Lighting fixture schedule creation based on limited selection assistance from inhouse staff (primarily specialty applications)
- Photometric calculations as required for proper application of lighting fixtures
- Application of relevant building and electrical codes
- Project design and drawing preparation
- Compliance with office drawing standards and quality control measures
- Client, design team, utility, and contractor interface in support of projects
- Assistance to others for construction administration task – response to RFIs, incorporating design changes, review of submittals, and occasional site visits
- Assisting with project drawing/file organization and dead-filing
