Avtec was founded in Gilbert, SC by Troy Branning in 1979 as an engineering consulting business for railroad customers. In July2013, Avtec, Inc. moved into its $6.1 million, 46,000-sq.ft. manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters on a nine-acre site at a new industrial park in the town of Lexington, SC.

One of the Midlands’ fastest growing high-tech firms, privately held Avtec provides Internet Protocol-based, touch-screen console systems that carry voice over telephone and radio networks and exports its systems worldwide.
